| Yet again there are some changes to the prices quoted on the catalogue pages. Please accept the prices simply as a guide rather than the final amount to be charged. In a number of cases particularly with the Spanish labels such as Lonehill, Gambit, etc. with the improvement in the Euro / Pound exchange rate there has been a reduction in prices. Given that there are large number of entries to be amended the current prices may remain for some time.

| Unlike the American imports mentioned in the last news item I obtain my supplies through the British distributor of label such as Lonehill, Fresh Sound, Classics, etc. and because of the continuing slide og the Pound against the Euro a whole raft of price increases have just been announced. I will take a little while to change all the prices on the web site and in the meantime I will always quote any new prices back to you on all orders before despatch.
A number of other distributors may also increase the prices of imported albums in the coming weeks so please watch this space. |

| American Imports
Since the middle of the summer Sterling has declined by around 25% against the US Dollar which in simple terms means that the wholesale prices for all the CDs I import through my American supplier have increased by around this amount. These include labels such as Stomp Off, GHB, Jazzology, Collectables and a number of others. To maintain my net amount of profit (a dirty word I know but the rent has to be paid!) I would have to raise my prices substantially, probably by about 15%. However as this would amount to around £2 on a Stomp Off or £1.75 on a GHB album I have decided to keep the necessary increases as low as I can. Not all of these new prices have yet been reflected in the online catalogue. Old prices will be maintained on items taken from stock
VAT
I am writing this the day after the Chancellor made the announcement of a temporary reduction in VAT to 15%. Whilst this might mean a saving of £250 on the price of a car previously costing £11750, on a CD costing £9.25 it amounts to 20p and even less on the latest Ambrose on Vocalion (6p).
Over the years I have done my best to keep my prices as static as possible even though there have been slow but inexorable increases in many of my expenses including rent, power, insurance, etc. Because of this and the incredible amount of hassle involved in altering every price tag on the shelves I have decided that I will maintain existing prices. At least this means I will not have to change all the prices again when VAT reverts back to 17.5% in thirteen months time!
I hope you will understand my reasoning behind this. |
